Fabiona termination
from city takes effect

The termination of casual employee Arturo Fabiona from the Office of the Sectoral Concerns in Bacolod City took effect yesterday upon orders of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Fabiona, tagged by the police as one of the top leaders of the New People's Army was intercepted and arrested Tuesday last week together with Marvin Mata, deputy secretary of the Komiteng Rehiyonal-Negros, by 6th Regional Mobile Group troopers along the highway of Talisay City.

Fabiona, alias "Ka Turing and Kim," alleged intelligence officer of the KR-Negros, was released Thursday by the 6th RMG because he has no pending arrest warrant.

Leonardia said Fabiona had been employed in 2001 as a casual employee of City Hall during the Valdez administration. He said Fabiona is not personally known to his office but was retained because he was recommended by Kagawad Monina Gulmatico of Brgy. 12.

Leonardia said that because of the military assessment, he issued a notice that Fabiona should be terminated from the city government effective yesterday.

He said he believes the military findings are enough grounds for the termination.*CGS.
