Negrense joins RP Mutya tilt

A Negros Occidental beauty titlist is among the 30 candidates vying for this year's Mutya Ng Pilipinas crown.

Former Pasalamat Festival Queen of La Carlota City's Cherry May Barbo told the DAILY STAR yesterday that it has always been her dream to join in the Mutya competition.

Barbo, 20, is in Subic right now along with the other candidates preparing for the coronation night on June 22. She is candidate No. 7.

The reigning Miss National PRISSAA, Barbo said the schedule for rehearsals and television appearances is very tiring, yet, she felt overwhelmed. She was also crowned Iloilo Dinagyang Queen in 2006 and Centennial Queen of Central Philippine University where she is presently enrolled as incoming fourth year Tourism student.

Although she says she does not expect anything, she also said she is ready to give her best on the pageant night.

Of the 30 candidates, she said 10 are half-Filpinas from other countries.

The winners of the Mutya ng Pilipinas Pageant are sent to international pageant events, such as, Miss Asia Pacific International, Miss Tourism International, Tourism Queen of the Year, and Miss Intercontinental.*NB
