Flyover ECC submitted
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Woodfields Consultants Inc., consultant of the flyover projects of Bacolod City, has already submitted the Environmental Compliance Certificate to the Department of Public Works and Highways, Secretary to the Mayor Roger Balo said yesterday.

"They are now mobilizing the project in Bacolod," Balo said.

The projects will constructed at the junctions of Lacson-Burgos streets and Lacson-B.S. Aquino Drive.

Bacolod is one of the seven recipients of the "Tulay ng Pangulo sa Kaunlaran Project". The others are Iloilo, Cebu, Naga, San Fernando, Davao and Butuan.

The contractors, Mabey and Johnson, and Woodfields Consultants, conducted a feasibility study on the traffic situation in the city in September 2004. These are specialized consulting companies that have constructed the flyovers in Naga, San Fernando and Bulacan, in Luzon, he said. Balo also said the project has been presented to the City Development Council whose members include the 61 barangay captains in Bacolod. The project will be started this month or in July.

Elsie Monsanto, Woodfields Environment Section head, has said that the construction of the project will take five to six months. Each project will cost P250 million and will be funded by the national government, she said.*CGS
