The National Statistics Office in Negros Occidental is coordinating with local government units for the census of population in August.

Provincial Statistics Officer Fred Solluesta said his office will need about 1,200 enumerators throughout the province, for the 25 census days to be conducted simultaneously nationwide. He added that the data from the census is considered an official data of the government to be used for policy formulation, redistricting and apportionment of congressional seats, allocation of resources and revenues and creation of political and administrative units. NSO data are also the official information used by the business industry, research institutions and the academe, the press release said.

Enumerators will go on a house-to-house interview with the household head or any responsible member of the family to get information. Results of the census will be released in February next year.*PIA
