pupil drowns

A Grade 4 pupil of Bayombong Elementary School drowned Saturday, near the seashore of Oval Area, Poblacion Zamboanguita, in Oriental Negros.

Police identified the victim as Ryan Tuage, 9, of Bayombong, Brgy. Najandig, Zamboanguita. Initial investigation disclosed that Tuage, with his companions, Benjie Dizon, 30, and Renato Empic, 12, both also of Bayombong, were swimming at the Oval Area when the victim drowned.

Dizon told the police that while they were swimming, he noticed that Tuage could no longer be found, prompting him to immediately seek help from people nearby.

Bangus trawler Rocky Pacaro who was passing by, helped locate the victim by casting his net into the water. When his body was recovered, the victim was brought on board a trisikad to the Dr. Roberto Fuentes Clinic at Osmeņa St., in Zamboanguita, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, investigation added. His remains were turned over to his parents Pedro and Justina Tuage in Sitio Maglente, Brgy. Mayabon, in Zamboanguita.

Meanwhile, a Nokia N93 series cellphone worth P38,000 was snatched at gunpoint by motorcycle-riding suspects from its owner who was walking at Claytown Subdivision, Daro at about 8:30 p.m. Friday night, police said.

The victim was Maria Karina Llosa, 19, single, and a student, from of Cagayao de Oro City.

The suspects also took her P2,000 cash, ATM card and Silliman University ID card.

In another incident, unidentified suspects stole a Samsung computer with keyboard and printer, a 12-inch Sony television set, eight camera, films, shoes and a guitar, worth thousands of pesos, from Joo Hye Park, of legal age, in Dumaguete.

Policemen are now investigating the incidents.*RG
