BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A Philippine Air Force intelligence operative already marked AWOL (Absent-Without-Leave) and a victim of an ambush on May 26 in La Libertad, Oriental Negros, is a political supporter of Congresswoman-elect Jocelyn Limkaichong (1st District), the military said yesterday.

Lt. Col. Jess Manangquil, 11th Infantry Battalion commander, said Air Force Sgt. Jonimar Emperado has already been dropped from the rolls of the Philippine Air Force after being AWOL for almost three months. Emperado joined the list of six other supporters of Limkaichong who were also victims of an ambush on March 9, in La Libertad.

Limkaichong, outgoing La Libertad mayor, won the congressional race against the Olive Paras, wife of Rep. Jacinto Paras (1st district, Negros Oriental).

in custodial investigations
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Dumaguete City Peace and Order Council is inviting at least 18 barangay captains to be trained in various subjects including custodial investigation and procedures on drug operations on July 14, at the Plaza Maria Luisa building.

Proliferation of illegal drugs has remained as the topmost concern of Dumaguete, especially with the opening of classes next week. Meanwhile, efforts to address the menace led by Mayor Agustin Perdices and the police under Supt. Dionardo Carlos continue. The 18 barangays have been identified as having been affected by the drug menace.

Ayungon mayor-elect to
address malnutrition
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Ayungon Mayor-elect Erwin Agustino said malnutrition will be the top of the list project to be addressed by the administration.

Outgoing Mayor Edsel Enardecido said that in the past five years, the number of malnourished children in the municipality has become alarming. He said that, based on a study, at least 25 percent of the total children population are malnourished. But with the implementation of the Early Childhood Development program of the UNICEF the malnutrition rate has slowly gone down.

The malnutrition rate has now reduced to 10-8 percent among children aging from zero to three years old.
