The National Food Authority
in Negros Occidental has stepped up its Rice Distribution Program to boost rice
supply in the province during the lean months from June to August.
Manuel Castaņares, NFA assistant provincial manager, said yesterday the 72,000
bags of rice from Vietnam that arrived Monday is part of their rice inventory
for the period. Also, 83,000 bags from Thailand will arrive this month.
In Negros Occidental, the NFA has 90 Bigasan ni Gloria sa Palengke outlets, 13
Bigasan sa Parokya outlets, and 23 Tindahan Natin outlets. It has also 27 accredited
retailers.

Fund to sell
more foreclosed units
The Pag-IBIG Fund will continue to dispose
of its foreclosed housing units, including those in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental,
until October 31 this year.
The program, "Magaang Pabahay,
Disenteng Buhay," was supposed to end on April 30 but has been extended for six
months, and now includes non-Pag-IBIG members.
Imelda Gerangaya,
Pag-IBIG Bacolod branch attorney, said the housing units are being sold at 20
percent discount for cash purchase and at 15 percent discount, if through a housing
loan, at an interest rate of six percent per annum for loans up to P300,000.


DOLE
to open Philjobnet
Center in Bacolod City
The Department of Labor and Employment 6
will open its Philjobnet Center at the DOLE Bacolod District Office on June 15.
Philjobnet is an internet-based job and applicant matching
system which seeks to fasttrack job and manpower search for both applicants and
employers, respectively.
DOLE 6 will inaugurate its first
Philjobnet Center in Western Visayas today in Iloilo City.
