AACI Trading nips Chemi;
Sweet notches first victory

Ronald Arabia arrested his free-throw shooting slump just in time, lifting AACI Trading to a narrow 84-78 win over Chemisolutions for its fourth straight win in the Fil-Sino AACI Inter-color basketball tournament at the Po Hang Gym Friday night.

Trailing all throughout the game, AACI made its move late in the fourth period when John Dustin Chua drained a clutch triple with 1:20 left that smashed a 77-all tie and shoved on top.

Arabia, who missed four potential game-winning free throws against JSY Transport, was spot-on this time, going four-for-four to complete the comeback.

Bonbon Baclay also scored 9 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to help carry AACI back into the game, after trailing 57-64 in the third canto. Arabia finished with 13 points, Ralph Richard Tan added 11 and Arvin Gustilo and Christopher Tan chipped in 10 apiece.

Chemisolutions, which dropped to 2-2, was led by Frederick Ong and Kenderson Hao, who had 12 apiece. Ralph Ong added 8 points, while Albert Li, Robbie Jalando-on, Donald Quilantang, Deonyson Dy and Bryan Tan combined for 30 more.

Meanwhile, Sweet Crystal Sugar barged into the win column, after nipping AACI Transport, 82-80.

Joel Deocadiz posted 28 points, including 18 in a big second quarter assault that pushed Crystal ahead, 49-39.

After Ricky Chua's lay-up, Deocadiz He split his free throws to peg the final score as the final sequence of the game was marred by a controversial announcement of a table official, who declared that there was still 14 seconds left, six more than the actual time remaining.

Johnnyson Yu added 15 points, while Jeff Wee and Timothy Chua made 12 and 9, respectively.

Trailing 39-49, AACI Transport rallied behind Bobby Yap who scored 11 of his 16 in the third and Marc Lo to slice the lead. Matthew Yap contributed 15 points for AACI Transport, while Richard Verayo, RB Chua and Lo combined for 32. *CPT
