The Farmer-Scientists Training Program has been benefiting farmers in Siquijor for the past three years of its implementation by increasing the annual income of project beneficiaries.

This was shown in a survey conducted on 187 farmer-scientists from 49 barangays in six towns of Siquijor province from February to April this year.

Dads proposing
BLDA creation
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Oriental Negros Provincial Board approved on first reading the proposed Balanan Lake Development Authority, which is aimed at giving the government the authority to run the resort in Barangay Sandulot, Siaton town.

The proposed ordinance also calls for the committees on rules and tourism of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to jointly convene and conduct public hearings to scrutinize the provisions of the proposed BLDA, Board Member Erwin Michael Macias said. Gov. Emilio Macias II endorsed the BLDA for immediate approval by the Board as the province could not impose charges on various activities of the resort, without an ordinance.

Macias said measures have to be put in place to regulate the activities in the area.
