transfer of workers
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Dumaguete Vice Mayor Woodrow Maquiling lamented what he called the "unethical and unchristian" behavior of City Administrator Dominador Dumalag Jr. when he confronted the latter about the transfer of some city council employees to other departments.

Maquling said the inquiry he made during his privileged speech in the Sangguniang Panlungsod last Thursday was done with good and honest intentions.

He said he just wanted to clarify why he was not informed about the transfer of the employees, adding that he would not mind the transfer, but that, out of respect, he should have been informed.

He added that are a lot of "little mayors" in Dumaguete.

Meanwhile, Maquiling asked for a reconsideration of his decision not to become a member of the personnel selection board of the city.

He said under the rules, he should be in that committee.

During the assignment of committees, his partymate Councilor Nilo Sayson was accommodated in order to have a representation from the minority in the city council.

City Councilor Nilo Sayon, meanwhile, called on the executive department to direct the Veterinary Office to exterminate and clear the streets of stray dogs as provided in Ordinance No. 30, series of 1999.

Sayson cited the enormous amount of money required in treating dog bites, more so, if dogs have not been vaccinated.*MA
