The inaugural Mayor Ramon "Monet" Torres Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament opens today at the Plaza Arcade Bowling Alley in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Torres will be the guest of honor and speaker in the opening rites.

The games will start at 2 p.m.

Joel Basiao, president of the organizing Bago City Bowlers Association said the two-day event is a five-game series tournament where the top three squads will battle for the top prize in an up-the-ladder system on Sunday. Basiao said no less than 12 teams are expected to compete.

Teams that have already signified their intention to join are Mulo Aircon Services Bowlers, Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc.- Bacolod, Negros Professional Bowlers Club, Sharp, Barangay I/Amor ESD Silverado/ASSFBI, Panasonic, BACBA, among others.

Tito Datoon, of BACBA said personal balls are allowed in this tournament. Meanwhile, the Sharp Open Trio Bowling Championship rolls off at 6 pm. on Aug.1 at the New Top's Millennium Plaza in Bacolod City.*HLG
