| Man
knifed dead by drinking pals An old grudge
is being eyed by the police in the killing of a 34-year-old man by his two drinking
companions in Bacolod City yesterday, the Philippine National Police said.
Rufino Libo-on of Gonzaga Extension, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, was repeatedly
stabbed by a certain "Pao-Pao" and an alias "Mongkoy" after an argument while
they were drinking near a sari-sari store at Gonzaga Extension at about 12 a.m.
yesterday, Police Station 6 commander Chief Inspector Noel Mana-ay said.
Libo-on was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital
but he died later from the stab wounds on his chest and hands at about 3:15 a.m.
yesterday, police records showed. Mana-ay said the two suspects
may have had a grudge against Libo-on that is why they stabbed him when they had
an argument. Libo-on's elder sister, Zorayda, however, said her brother did not
have enemies in the area. Mana-ay also said that the killing
could have been due to the "culture of violence" at Gonzaga Extension.
Mana-ay said that they are now searching for the two, who fled after the incident.*PP
