Maria town in Siquijor will host today the 1st Regional Artists Convention for amateur and professional artists, including children aged 8 years old and above, at the Olang Center for Arts.

Television and theater director Mark Aranal said organizers have lined up workshops, and live-in arts, performing, and visual arts camps. Resource persons include Manila-based film director Mario de los Reyes, with professional theater and film artists in showbiz industry.

Director Minnie Solomon-Crouse donated a 5-hectare land in Barangay Olang in Maria, for the construction of the first center for arts in the town and province, for art enthusiasts to develop their talents.*MA
