Amonsot checks out of hospital

Filipino boxer Czar Amonsot, who lost a bloody duel with Australian WBO champion Michael Katsidies Sunday, was given a clean bill of health by neuro-specialist Dr. Debra Nelson yesterday.

Philboxing.com reported that Amonsot underwent a final CT scan after an MRI that showed that the little blood clot outside his brain was not serious, disproving earlier reports. He is set to check out of the Las Vegas Hospital. But the website said Amonsot may have to put his career on hold for the next three to six months to recover.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission, which gives licenses to boxers fighting in Las Vegas, told journalist Ronnie Nathanielsz that "Amonsot's career as far as Nevada was concerned was probably over". *
