Cops nab helpers linked to break-in

Two house helpers were arrested by the police for allegedly conniving with two unidentified men who broke into the house of their employer in Bacolod City yesterday, the Philippine National Police said.

Police Station 6 commander, Chief Inspector Noel Mana-ay, said that the two female house helpers were detained for investigation after their employer, Mae Matsuyama, told the police that they may have known the two men who tried to rob her early yesterday.

Mana-ay said Matsuyama asked for police assistance after she and her son saw the robbers holding the two girls at gunpoint outside her room through the peephole of the door in her two-storey house at Lirio Street, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City at about 3 a.m. yesterday.

The suspects, however fled without taking any items from Matsuyama’s house when the police arrived, Mana-ay added.

He added that they held the helpers, whose names are being withheld by the DAILY STAR, because of the inconsistencies in their testimonies on how the robbers had entered and fled from the house without being chased by Matsuyama’s Doberman.

Mana-ay said that if the teenagers did not know the suspects, the guard dog should have ran after them when they entered the house as it did when the police came later.

The girls, who are from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on the other hand, denied knowing and conniving with the robbers.

They asked why they were in being detained when they were the ones who were put in danger during the incident.*PP
