| The parents of a 5-year-old boy from Purok Riverside, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City are seeking the help of DAILY STAR readers to defray the expenses of their son who has been diagnosed to have tetralogy of fallot at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, in Bacolod.
Trisikad driver Mario Martus, and his wife, Maria Antoinette Latosa, said they cannot afford the cranial CT scan and 2-D echo of their son, Marianito, 5, who has been confined at the CLMMRH since July 10.
Medical records show that the patient was brought to the hospital due to swelling of the left eye. Before he was admitted, the boy had fever for one week, records added.
Doctors diagnosed him to also have pulmonary stenosis, and later found out that he also had CNS infection with periorbital edema.

Bago PTCA elects officers
The Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Community Association Federation in Bago City, Negros Occidental, recently elected its new officers at its general assembly meeting held at the city Community Center, a press release from the Bago government said.
Elected were Bago City Elementary School PTCA head Emmanuel Guevarra - president, Rewel Murillo - vice president, Oliva Seva - secretary, Kenneth Pabon - treasurer, Jessie Tubal - auditor, Hector Magbanua – PIO, and Cornelio Capindit and Ardy Saylon - business managers.
Councilor Bernadette Somcio, out-going PTA/PTCA federation president, presided over at the meeting, while Mayor Ramon Torres inducted the officers, the press release added.*

Dance sports gab set
The NOPPSCEA Cultural Task Force will conduct an orientation-workshop on Dance Sports for Secondary P.E. teachers and trainers on Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose activity Center, in Bacolod City, a press release from event organizers said.
This is in preparation for the cultural competitions of the NOPSSCEA Week set Sept. 23-29.
Ching Temporosa-Alcala will conduct the orientation-workshop with performances by Melanie Flor Agustin and Dexter Montalvo, 2007 Western Visayas PRISAA champion in Modern Standard, and Elizabeth Dazo and Leoniel Enopia, first runner-up of the 2006 NOPSSCEA Latin Dance Sports Competition.
The workshop on Contemporary Dance for Tertiary P.E. teachers and trainers however, has been postponed, the press release said.
There is a proposal for the addition of Solo/Duo for Contemporary dance because of plans to participate in the Solo/Duo Competition of the annual WIFI BODY: Contemporary Dance Festival at the CCP and in the annual Mindanao National Modern dance Competition in Koronadal, South Cotabato.
The VMA Global College Poseidon Dance Theater, 2007 WVPRISAA champion in Modern Dance, bagged the championship trophy in the recent 6 th Mindanao national Modern Dance Competition, the press release added.*

hold induction of officers
The Barangay Singcang Airport National High School in Bacolod City held the induction of its Parents Teachers Community Association, Homeroom PTCAs, and Supreme Students’ Government officers recently, a press release from the school said.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilor Greg Gasataya, and Executive Assistant Ramon Lozana representing Mayor Evelio Leonardia, were the inducting officers.
School principal Dr. Zenda Ibrado, also the PTCA adviser, welcomed the guests.
Inducted as PTCA officers were Elita Kapawan - president, Reybuoy Provido - vice president, Carmen Go - secretary, Susan Dondon - treasurer, Neliet Sumalinog - auditor, Larry Villaflor - P.I.O., and Jeffrey Traje - business manager.
Parents elected as Board Members were Milagros Postrado, Arlyn Lozada, Mario Dalida and Felicito Gulaja. Teachers elected to the Board were Levy Cana, Felisa Arroz, Joselette Gasper and Vida Sullesta, as well as president of the Association of Faculty and Staff Metucela Lusaya and SSG adviser Joy Rullan, the press release said.
SSG officers are Yvette Ybanez - president, Keeshia Marie Ortega - vice president, Jhon Rey Quiachon - secretary, Kieffer Angelo Bautista - treasurer, Rebbie Serilla - auditor, Philip John Aragon - PIO, Fely Jane Higuera - business manager and Katherine Herchanova and Alvin Cardiente - peace officers. SM named most-friendly to disabled
SM Supermalls, particularly Mall of Asia, has been awarded the “Most Disabled Friendly Mall Award for 2007, in ceremonies held recently at Heroes Hall of Malacañang Palace, a press release from SM management said.
Japan International Cooperation Agency chief adviser Akiie Ninomiya visited Hans Sy to congratulate SM Supermalls for its efforts in promoting a non-handicapping environment in the Philippines, it also said.
JICA, through the Asia Pacific Development Center on Disability based in Bangkok, has been in collaboration with SM Supermalls in the promotion of a barrier free environment for the handicapped and elderly.
This has been presented through a speech by its president, Annie Garcia which was delivered at the United Nations Convention Center in Bangkok in June, upon the invitation of the APCD, to share the efforts of a private sector in promoting a non-handicapping environment in the Philippines, the press release said.
JICA and the APCD commended SM for endeavor and call on the other private entities to follow suit.
Meanwhile, SM City Bacolod was the venue of this year’s National Disability Week celebration in Bacolod City. A photo exhibit, chair massage and cataract checkup were spearheaded by the Christian Foundation for Persons with Disability or CFPD, the press release said.
A cultural program showcasing the talents of persons with disability was also held at the north wing Event Center of the Bacolod wall.
The mall will also conduct a seminar on disability to its employees, security and tenant personnel next week, the press release added.*
