BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has found probable cause for the filing of multiple charges for the ambush-slay of seven persons and the wounding of five others on March 9, in La Libertad, Oriental Negros, against five suspects, some of whom were identified to be working with a defeated mayoralty candidate in the town.

In a 14-page resolution, the panel of prosecutors recommended the filing of the complex crime of murder with frustrated multiple murder against Sandalo “Randy” Mongolore, Fernando “Boy” Dorimon, Wilfredo “Freggie” Aurellano, William Paunilian and a certain Tikyo Manait, before the Regional Trial Court in Guihulngan town.

The victims were participants of a two-day seminar in Poblacion, La Libertad who were ambushed in Manluminsag on their way home to Barangay Aya on board the Cobra truck owned by the municipality.

Killed were Aya Brgy. Captain Lydio Baylon, Rudy Maxilom, Edin Elod, Mitchell Galleposo, Judy Tuble, George Nataa, Nonoy Nataa.

Wounded were truck driver Jorlan Baylon, Edencillo Beliot, Julito dela Cruz, Ignacia Salimbagat and Amaida Facturan.

Witness Jorlan Baylon positively identified Dorimon, Aurellano, and the rest as responsible for the death of his father and six others with the use of M-14 and M-16 rifles, as well as short firearms.

Baylon said he knows Dorimon as a bodyguard of defeated mayoralty candidate Bow Moreno. He and Aurellano are also members of the Bantay Dagat while Manait is his godfather, and a known leader of Moreno in Aya, while Paunilian is a habal-habal driver, he added.

The ambush-slay had resulted in the declaration of La Libertad as one of the areas of concern of the Comelec during the last elections.

Prosecutor Ethyl Eleccion, head of the panel, and prosecutors Mercedita Sarsaba, Macarieto Trayvilla, as members, penned the resolution while Provincial Prosecutor Diosdado Hermosa approved for filing.*JG
