NBS player
to compete
in Shanghai

Reigning national open champion Lee Vann Corteza of the Negros Billiards Stable will see action in the fifth and final leg of the Guinness 9-ball tour from Aug. 3-5 in Shanghai, China.

He will be joined by double world champion Ronnie Alcano, 2004 world 9-ball champion champion Alex Pagulayan and Roberto Gomez, Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines president Ernie Fajardo said.

Corteza, who hails from Davao but is playing under the NBS stable managed by Christopher Palses, was selected because of his 80 ranking points, which is good for 10 th place overall after four legs.

The Filipinos are bidding to gain a spot in the grand finals set from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 in Bali, Indonesia, where the champion will win a $36,000.

NBS president Jonathan Sy will send Corteza to the Cebu Open from July 27-29 in SM Cebu as part of his preparation for the Shanghai event. *CPT
