Abemar Espinosa Gegantoni of La Consolacion College-Bacolod landed on the Top Ten of the list of passers in the Architect Licensure Examination given by the Board of Architecture in Manila in June.
Gegantoni placed eighth among the 1,141 architecture graduates who took the examinations.
Of the total examinees, 467 passed, 19 of them from LCC-Bacolod.
Rodjhun Navarro, LCC-Bacolod information officer, said the school is proud of Gegantoni’s achievement and congratulatory streamers will be put up for him and the other passers.
Navarro added that a thanksgiving mass will also be offered for the passers after they take their Oath of Professional before the Board of Architecture.
The oath-taking ceremony of all passers is scheduled on Aug. 18, 1 p.m. at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
The Architecture and Interior Design departments have always been a source of pride of the LCC Community, Navarro said.
He added that LCC-Bacolod has for several times produced top notchers in the Architectural Licensure Examinations and has earned recognition as the best school for Architecture outside Manila.
“LCC-Bacolod is the pioneer school to offer B.S. in Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design,” Navarro said.
But while passing the licensure exams given by the Professional Regulation Commission is considered a barometer of success, LCC-Bacolod continually improves the quality of education it provides to all its students, he said.
Abemar is the son of Abraham and Maria Gegantoni of Talisay City.
Aside from him, other LCC-Bacolod passers in the architecture exams were: Eden Alegato, Edsel Bosil, Askith Lee Camposagrado, Levi John Cayayan, Ryan Fajutrao, Roderick Go, Michelle June Guevarra, John Jareño, Liezel Javier, Lynette Lacson, Ma. PYAP marks 34th anniversary
The Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines, mostly composed of out-of-school youth, will mark its 34th Foundation Day with a series of sports and arts competitions on July 29, at the Jaro Covered Gym in Iloilo, a press release from the Department of Social Welfare and Development said.
Dubbed Gintong Araw ng PYAP on the theme, “Kabataa’y Pasiglahin, PYAP Palakasin,” the activities are expected to gather hundreds of PYAP members from 21 provincial and city federations all over Western Visayas .
Activities will include foot parade in the main streets of Jaro, thanksgiving mass, photo exhibits, on-the-spot painting contest, volleyball and basketball tournaments, dancesports and popdance and awarding of plaque of appreciation.
Organization of the PYAP and training the youth development leaders in various skills capability building activities are the strategies utilized to effectively deliver the programs and services for the youth, Eduardo “Che” Guevarra, Regional Youth Development Coordinator of DSWD Field Office VI, said in the press release.
Chaired by Narciso Abad III, president of the Regional Federation of PYAP, the various PYAP chapters will also hold policy advocacy fora on Republic Act 8084 otherwise known as “The Youth in Nation Building Act,” Adolescent Responsible Sexuality, Drug Abuse Prevention forum.
There will also be an open house and program orientation of SCALA program at the SCALA ICT Centers in Sagay, Bago, Talisay City and Cauayan, Negros Occidental, and Iloilo City. Community building and weekly youth brigades will be undertaken by the various barangays PYAP chapters in Region VI, the press release added.*

Romantic Piano Concert
on Negros Journey Tour
Pianists and music pedagogues, Reynaldo Reyes and Ingrid Sala Santamaria are on their 14 th Romantic Piano Concerto Journey Tour with special outreach concerts in Negros that began July 22 and will end today, a press release from event organizers said.
Reyes predicted piano concertos will remain a part of the Filipino music diet for many years more.
“This is the reason why we perform outside Manila to give music lovers in the countryside a chance to hear piano concertos without the big expense of transporting a 60-member orchestra,” Reyes said.
Santamaria and Reyes will perform at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the St. Therese Academy in Silay today, the organizers said.
Started as bi-annual tours in January 2001, these 2 piano educational presentations focus on music of the Romantic Period (1800 – 1900) preceded by a talk on the era’s background, style and best-loved representative concertos by late Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Grieg, Liszt, Mendelssohn, MacDowell, Rachmaninoff, Schumann, Saint Saens and Tschaikovsky. Works by the Filipino composers Buencamino and Santiago are also included.
