President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo yesterday said the business services sector has become the fastest growing in the economy providing 400,000 jobs compared to 8,000 in 2000.
By 2010 the forecast is one million jobs earning $12 billion, the same amount remitted by our overseas Filipinos today, Arroyo said in her State of the Nation address.
The president cited the economic gains from the country’s Cyber Corridor that encompasses centers of technology and learning running the length of all the super regions, which includes Negros island. 


Seized sugar to be auctioned to CBWs
The sugar recently seized by the Bureau of Customs will be auctioned off to Customs Bonded Warehouse importers so it will not enter the domestic market, Sugar Regulatory Administrator James Ledesma said yesterday.
The Bureau of Customs seized about P30 million worth of smuggled sugar and luxury vehicles Friday .
The smuggled goods were discharged from their carrying vessels in the second week of June and were considered suspicious after no entry was filed with his office regarding the goods, Manila District Collector Horacio Suansing said.

is urging employers to hire persons with disabilities to help them become self-sufficient
and productive partners in society.
Dannug made the call
at the employer's forum in line with the 29th National Disability Prevention and
Rehabilitation celebration conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment
in Iloilo City last week.
The celebration, which started
July 17 and ends today, is themed "Kapag May Access, May Success."
