Esteban slay
raps to be filed
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

The police yesterday said that they may file robbery and homicide charges today against a 20-year-old construction worker implicated in the fatal stabbing of the grandson of former Negros Occidental Vice Governor Gloria Esteban on July 15.

Police Station 2 commander Senior Inspector Rei Gumban, said the charges may be against Ramon Nelson Anoche for the killing of Anthony Esteban, 44, at the Prosecutor's Office today after an evaluation of their investigation on the case.

Esteban's body was found by Amity emergency personnel with a stab wound on his chest a few meters away from his car near a vacant lot at the Bacolod City Reclamation Area in Brgy. 10 on July 15, police records showed.

Anoche, who is from Purok Magtiayon, Brgy. 10, Bacolod City, was arrested on July 17 on the strength of a warrant for robbery issued by Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Branch 41 Judge Ray Allan Drillon, police records showed.

Earlier, Gumban said they considered Anoche a suspect as his house and the construction site where he works are near the area where the body was found.

Laboratory result for blood stains on the knife that was confiscated from Anoche was negative but Gumban said he may have just washed the blood off.

Police reports said that a 43-year-old Bacolod City Hall employee has positively identified Anoche as the one who stabbed Esteban and his affidavit will be among the bases for filing the case. Anoche on the other hand, maintains that he had nothing to do with Esteban's killing.

Esteban's family had offered a P10,000 reward to anybody who could give information that could lead to the arrest of his killer.*PP
