DFA sub-office
sought for Bacolod
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A resolution requesting the seven congressmen in Negros Occidental and the Lone District of Bacolod City to work on congressional action for the establishment of the Department of Foreign Affairs sub-regional office in the city or in the province was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod recently.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Alex Paglumotan, said the DFA is very vital, if not significant to the needs of the Bacoleņos and Negrenses as far as foreign related traveling activity is concerned. Records show that in the actual latest and projected census, based on population, Negros Occidental has 2,713,999 and Bacolod has 453,873, it said.

The resolution said thousands of Bacoleņos and Negrenses are traveling as tourists or businessmen or working as Overseas Filipino Workers.

It said they will definitely be benefited by the convenience, secondary to economic reasons, by the establishment of a DFA sub-regional office in the city or province, in processing their travel documents and requirements.

The resolution also said it is high time that Bacolod City and Negros Occidental have a DFA sub-regional office, through a Congressional action to be undertaken by the seven congressmen from the different Congressional districts of the province including Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, the SP also passed a resolution directing the General Services Office through the Office of the Mayor, to furnish the SP and the Vice Mayor's Office the voluminous copy of movable and immovable assets of the city to be used as official references in aid of local legislation.

The resolution was also authored by Paglumotan.*CGS
