Mayor orders
removal of streamers

Two teams from the Bacolod Mayor's Office were directed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to remove unauthorized or old streamers or posters along major city streets, a City Hall press release said.

The teams pulled out approximately 200 kilos of various streamers on tourism posts along Lacson and Araneta streets, the press release said.

Resolution Number 739, Series of 1996 prohibits hanging of streamers along and within the vicinity of the public plaza, capitol lagoon, tourism/electrical posts, trees, bridges, railings and waiting sheds.

Leonardia is soliciting the cooperation of business establishment owners and managers in complying with the regulations on hanging of streamers, the press release said.

"Let us put our efforts together in making Bacolod clean and orderly," the Mayor added.

The confiscated streamers have been then unloaded at the Department of Public Service for appropriate disposal.*
