LA VIDA NEGRENSE

La Salle Bacolod, my Alm Mater, has gone a long way, from being an exclusive school for boys to the co-ed university it is today.

Its tenth president, Br. Raymundo Suplido, FSC, who hails from Valladolid, Negros Occidental, was installed recently in Investiture Rites held at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.

Present were Br. Armin Luistro, FSC, president of De La Salle Philippines, Inc., Br. Visitor Edmundo Fernandez, FSC, USLS Board of Trustees chairman Dr. Oscar Hilado, and outgoing president Br. Gus Boquer, FSC.

The new president received the Presidential Medallion and the Mace and recited the Pledge of Responsibility before giving his inaugural address. Bishop of Bacolod Vicente Navarra, DD, gave the Apostolic Blessing after the Community Prayer led by the Brother Visitor.

Brother Ray finished his elementary education at La Salle Bacolod in 1959, and came back to Bacolod in 1970 - 1972 as a high school teacher. He made his final vows as a La Salle Brother in 1972, and has professional training experiences in Education and Psychology.

He completed his AB and BSE and his MA in Educational Management from De La Salle University - Manila. He also studied in Rome earning a Baccalaureate and then a Licentiate in Clinical Psychology from the Pontifical Gregorian University .

In 2007, he completed his doctorate studies in Counseling Psychology at De La Salle University - Manila. He served for three years as the Brother Visitor for the Philippine District of the La Salle Brothers before his appointment as member of the Superior General's Council in Rome, the highest international governing body of the La Salle Brothers.*
