IN BACOLOD Cash, valuables lost in townhouse
theft More than P100,000 worth of cash and properties
were taken by still unidentified thieves from a townhouse in Bacolod City yesterday,
the police said. Ian Jared Porras, 31, of Brgy. Bato, Sagay
City, Negros Occidental, reported to Police Station 2 that the suspects broke
into the three-storey townhouse at 14th-Lacson Streets, Bacolod City by destroying
the plywood cover of an air conditioner shaft in the masters' bedroom at about
2:30 a.m. yesterday. The robbers took a laptop worth P40,000
and a P30,000 digital camera, police records showed. Porras
and his nine companions friends also lost five wristwatches worth around P12,000,
three cellpones valued at P22,000, P7,800 worth of jewelries and MP3 players,
and P8,600 in cash, police reports said. Porras said that
the suspects may have broke into their house while he and three of his friends
were asleep. He added that the masters' bedroom was deserted
when the robbers entered because the female occupants had gone out to study with
three other male students. The police, on the other hand,
said that they are now eyeing two women who had been standing outside the townhouse
before the robbery. Porras' brother, Philip, told the police that two that two
women stood and watched them leave at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
He said that he even had to maneuver his mini truck when he and his friends went
out because the women were standing on the vehicle's way. Bacolod City Police
Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar said that he will order a further

Vehicle
to fetch Yap collides with jeepney
The vehicle supposed to fetch Agriculture secretary Arthur Yap from the airport
collided with a jeepney early yesterday, the police said.
Yap was on his way to Bacolod for various speaking engagements.
Reports said that the green Nissan Terrano collided with a pink jeepney plying
the Alijis-Central Market route, which fell on its side, at the intersection of
Luzuriaga-Lacson streets, Bacolod City at about 6 a.m. yesterday. There were no
reported injuries during the incident. Gigi Salve, the Terrano's
driver, said that he lost control of the vehicle and hit the jeepney when its
driver stopped at the middle of the intersection. The jeepney's driver, on the
other hand, said that he was way past the juncture's center when the Terrano hit
his vehicle. The Bacolod City Police Office Traffic Management Unit is still investigating

Vigilance urged
vs. fake money The Philippine National Police
renewed its call to the public to be vigilant about fake bills after an internet
café was victimized by an unidentified suspect, who paid with a fake P1,000 bill
yesterday. Bacolod City Police Office director Senior Supt.
Ronilo Quebrar said the public, especially business establishments, should be
cautious in accepting P1,000 and P500 bills as counterfeit money is circulating
in the city. A female internet café attendant reported to Police Station 6 that
an unidentified customer paid her a P1,000 bill as payment for cellhpone load
at about 4 a.m. yesterday. She found out that the money was
fake after the suspect had left the shop on a motorcycle. The attendant added
that she had not checked the money before the man left as the suspect was rushing
