Army joins tree-planting

The Siquijor provincial government and the 704th Community Defense Center of the Philippine Army joined a tree-planting activity recently at the 15-hectare area in Sitio Cantiwan, Barangay Canlasog, Larena town, Oriental Negros.

Initiated by the Army, the activity called "Puno Para sa Kinabukasan" (A Tree For The Future) was participated in by soldiers, policemen, students, government employees, and representatives of local and non-government units and organizations who planted tree seedlings in military camps, school premises and other selected areas.

It was also aimed at generating awareness among Filipinos on the impact of global warming and the importance of protecting the environment and replenishing the forest resources.*RG
