Capitol holds training on
organic agriculture

Seventy participants from various towns and cities and government agencies in Negros Occidental attended the Training on Enterprise Development Through Organic Farming held at the Capitol Governor's Hall from July 18 to 20, a press release from the Capitol said.

Dina Genzola, training coordinator of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, said the participants are key persons that could educate farmers and advocate organic agriculture in their areas.

Also present were representatives from the Philippine Rice Research Institute, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, and Provincial Veterinary Office.

The speakers were Eva dela Merced, executive director of Broad Initiatives for Negros Development; Patrick Belisario, executive director of Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Foundation Inc., and Pamela Henares, also of NISARD, the press release said.

The training program, also implemented with partner Agricultural Training Institute, is in line with the vision of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental to make the Negros Island an organic food capital of the country and of Asia.*
