28,300 workers hired in
WV in first 6 months

A total of 28,359 jobseekers in Western Visayas, who applied through the Department of Labor and Employment offices in the region, were hired during the first six months of the year, DOLE records show.

The number is equivalent to 85 percent accomplishment, out of the 33,497 applications processed, in terms of job placement.

DOLE also facilitated the job placements of 6,857 students out of the 7,349 applicants, or about 93 percent.

Meantime, the DOLE 6 has also provided technical advisory to establishment owners and managers. The eight orientation seminars also benefited 329 participants in Western Visayas.

For the same period, the DOLE 6 has inspected 602 establishments in Western Visayas to ensure that they comply with the General Labor Standards.

As a result, 64 establishments have restituted a total of P8.5 million to 18,623 workers.*PNA
