Mt. Everest
climbers to visit Bacolod

BY CEDELF TUPAS

Mt. Everest climbers Leo Oracion, Erwin Pastour Emata, Carina Dayondon, Noelle Wenceslao and Janet Belarmino are arriving in Bacolod Saturday to conduct inspirational talks at the University of St. La Salle and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, event organizer Pobbie Limas of the Recoletos Association of Mountaineers said.

Limas said that a caravan will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, before the mountaineers proceed to USLS for an open forum, where they will share their experiences about their climbs.

The Mt. Everest team will be at UNO-R from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. also on Saturday.

A mall tour for the team is scheduled from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Limas added. It will mark the second time Oracion and Emata will visit the city, after their successful Mt. Everest conquest in May last year. Dayondon, Wenceslao and Belarmino were the first Southeast Asian women to reach the peak.*CPT
