French ambassador,
wife guests at benefit dinner

French Ambassador M. Gerard Chesnel and his wife Ning, with Counselor for Cultural Affairs, M. Georges-Gaston Feydeau, will be the guests of honor at a benefit dinner sponsored by the Bacolod French Club tomorrow, 7 p.m., at the Sea Breeze Hotel, in Bacolod City.

Called "Une Soiree a Paris" a French dinner buffet, wine tasting cocktails and short lecture and an after-dinner cooking demo will be held for the SIMAG Foundation, a non-government organization taking care of abused children in the rural areas of Silay City and E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, a press release from Maricar Ramos said.

SIFI conducts medical mission
IN BINALBAGAN

The Sugar Industry Foundation Inc. conducted its 44th medical mission at the Planters Association of Southern Negros office, in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental recently, a SIFI press release said.

The team was headed by Neolita Alminaza and assisted by SIFI staff, while the PASON group was led by managing director, Arturo Tadifa and director Dr. Randy Ravina. SIFI said its mission to outlying sugar farms is part of its thrust to regularly provide medical and dental services and health education to sugar workers and their families.

A total of 303 sugar worker beneficiaries from different haciendas of PASON's planter members have availed of free medical consultations, free medicines and free tooth extractions, the press release said.

The medical and dental doctors who joined were Randy Ravina, Ma. Eleonor Madalogdog, Rochelle Calleja, Jonalee Gregori, Marc Leong, Mario and Tina Oliveros, the press release added.*

7 NOHS ALS students pass exam

Seven graduates of the Balik-Paaralan Out of School Adult Program of Negros Occidental High School in Bacolod City, recently passed the accreditation and equivalency test of the Bureau of Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education, a press release from the school said.

The examination passers are Adelfa Cordova, Herald Donasco, Elena Encabo, Retchie Favores, Sheryl Marie Gepilga, Edwardo Miguel Roldan and Vanessa Sarabia, Edisa Nequia, NOHS BP-OSA institutional manager, said. The DepEd ALS is a practical option to the existing formal instruction for out-of-school youths and adults who are at least 16 years old.

The passers earned a high school certificate that entitles them to proceed to any collegiate course, the press release added.*

Art group to hold exhibit

To celebrate the 32 years of the art group's existence 30 members of the Art Association of Bacolod display their works at the Event Center of SM City Bacolod on July 21-27, a press release from the group said.

Organized on July 4, 1975 by a group of Negrense artists led by Edgardo "Budot" Lizares, the AAB, as it has become familiarly known, saw the development of several of its members into artists of national and international renown, it said. The release also claimed that the AAB initiated the country's premier festival event, Bacolod's October MassKara.*
