backing out: Dumalag
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Dumaguete government yesterday denied speculations that a mall company is backing out from establishing its branch in the city due to alleged stoppage of construction activity.

City administrator Dominador Dumalag Jr. said the management of Robinsons has already invested a considerable amount of money for the purchase of the 6-hectare lot, and base preparations, among others.

He added that work is being conducted on a phase-by-phase basis, which started last year with excavation, and driving of piles.

Dumalag pointed out that it takes time to prepare the base because the site is a water logged area. The next phase is for a new site development, construction of at least 150 bunkhouses, a separate office, and power connections, he added.

Dumalag confirmed a revision of the original one-storey building plan, into a three-storey structure. He said construction will start in September this and completion is set November next year.*JG
