3,000 in Negros
join tree planting

More than 3,000 Negrenses yesterday participated in the simultaneous tree-planting activity spearheaded by the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Occidental, in line with the nationwide Green Philippines Program of the Philippine Army.

At least 33,000 seedlings of various fruit and naturally-grown trees were planted in the upland areas of Murcia, La Carlota City and Candoni, in Negros Occidental, and Canla-on, Guihulngan and La Libertad in Negros Oriental, Maj. Nathaniel Villasor, 303rd IB Civil Miltary Operations Officer, said.

Villasor said the Philippine Army aims to plant one million trees all over the country. The simultaneous tree-planting activities were also participated in by students, out-of-school youth, teachers, government employees, soldiers of the 11th and 61st Infantry Battalions, 542nd Engineering Construction Battalion, among others.*GPB
