| The family of Anthony Esteban, grandson of former Negros Occidental
Vice Governor Gloria Araneta Esteban, whose body was found at the Bacolod Reclamation
Area Sunday, is offering a P10,000 reward to anybody who can give them or the
police information that will lead to the arrest of his killers. This was
relayed to the DAILY STAR yesterday by Esteban's brother-in-law, Nonoy Lopez.
Esteban, 44, had succumbed to a lone stab wound on the chest and is believed to
have been killed hours before he was found at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, A 20-year-old
construction worker wanted for robbery and murder was arrested and questioned
by the police on the stabbing, the Police said yesterday. Police Station
2 commander Senior Inspector Rei Gumban Ramon said Ramon Nelson Anoche was questioned
on the killing of Anthony Esteban after his arrest at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday
on the strength of a warrant for robbery. Gumban said they questioned
Anoche because his house and the construction site where he works are near the
area where the body was found Sunday. He added that they were hoping that
Anoche could give them details that may lead to the identity of Esteban's killers
as he may have gathered information from the teenagers who usually roam in the
area. Anoche is from Purok Magtiayon, Brgy. 10, while Esteban's body was
found at the Reclamation Area also in Brgy 10. Gumban said, however, that
Anoche denied having stabbed Esteban. In an interview with the DAILY STAR,
Anoche also denied he had anything to do with robbery and murder of Esteban.
Meanwhile, Gumban said that they are now looking for the trisikad driver who brought
Esteban to the Reclamation Area before he was slain as he may be able to pinpoint
who was with the victim before the incident.*PP back
