The University of St. La Salle-Integrated School starts its quest for a national crown with a two-game schedule today as the Shakey's Tournament of Champions take off at the USLS College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

The La Salle-IS volleybelles open their bid against Cebu champion University of Southern Philippines Foundation at 10:30 a.m., before battling Iloilo winner Central Philippine University four and a half hours later.

Hope Christian School and USPF will play in the 4:30 p.m. match.

eight schools urged

Roger Banzuela, the NOPSSCEA Sports Task Force, yesterday called on eight private schools to submit the entry forms that determine what events they will be joining for the coming sports season before the July 21 deadline.

Banzuela, also the sports director of the University of St. La Salle, said 24 schools have initially forwarded their entries for the 27th NOPSSCEA sports meet scheduled from Sept. 23-28. Banzuela said he is awaiting the forms of West Negros College, St. Joseph's La Salle, St. John's Institute, St. Theresita's Academy, St. Rose of Lima School, Living Heritage Christian Academy and Destiny Christian Academy.

Montserrat cagers
unbeaten; 3 teams on top

Doņa Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School's "B" team registered two victories over the weekend to gain the early lead in the 15-Under division of the inaugural Mayor Jose "Oti" Montelibano Basketball Cup in Silay City.

Three teams --- St. John's Institute-A, Stallions and Davies, which scored two wins each, are on top of the 12-Under event at the Natalio Velez Gym.

DMMHS B trounced Stallion, 67-61, before defeating Barangay 5, 73-63. Montserrat A made it a perfect start for the Silay-based school with a 54-50 nipping of Don Bosco Technical Institute Saturday.
