'City mall to boost business'

The construction of a new mall in Dumaguete City is expected to be a major component of the Dumaguete Central Business District, a press release from the management of the mall and property developer Robinsons Land Corporation.

The RLC is currently laying the groundwork for the building of its shopping mall in the capital city of Oriental Negros, to be located along the Dumaguete South Road, a major thoroughfare in the province.

Mall manager of RLC Nilo Mapa said their Dumaguete property which will be the site of the fourth Robinsons mall in Central Visayas, will be first and only full service shopping mall in the entire province, the press release said.

A feature of the mall is the development of a hotel and trade hall at the top floor.

"Dumaguete is creating a name among local and foreign tourists. The diving spots in the province are pristine and the beach resorts are quite popular. We are looking forward to servicing this type of clientele as well as catering to local school and artists' groups," Mapa said. He said the hotel component of their Dumaguete project will have around 100 rooms, and a coffee shop while the trade exhibit wall will be approximately 3,000 square meters.

The mall promises to offer world-class shopping experience, dining, entertainment and pleasure. Local retailers as well as popular store chain operators are expected to open alongside other companies, the press release said.

Mapa said interested parties can contact them at Tel. Nos. 6836100, locals 179, and 816, or (034) 441-1842, of visit their website, www.robinsonsland.com, for more information, the press release added.*
