Witness in Bago killing identified

Negros Occidental police director Rosendo Franco yesterday ordered the 31 police chiefs in the province to unearth all unsolved cases in their areas, and pursue them vigorously, in their bid to give justice to the victims and their families.

Police records indicated an apparent increase in the number of unsolved crimes in Negros Occidental in the past months. Franco said he wants the police chiefs to give priority to the unsolved cases, which was the main agenda of the command conference yesterday at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

The two rape-slay incidents in the cities of Bago and Talisay, involving two minors recently, are still unsolved.

Franco also stressed police visibility in identified crime-prone areas to deter lawless elements from committing crimes against persons and property.

The solution of unsolved cases in the different towns and cities of Negros Occidental is part of the plans and programs of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office for the second semester of 2007, in close coordination with the five pillars of the criminal justice system, he said.

In the same period, NOPPO aims to continue the education of policemen and other force multipliers, and activation of crisis management council in the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental.*GPB
