SP to re-introduce port takeover move
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod will re-introduce today an ordinance on the takeover of the management and operation of the Bacolod port, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said yesterday. An ordinance laying down the ground rules and polices for the operation and management of the Bacolod port was passed on first reading by the former members of the City Council and was already at the level of discussion for second reading.

This was after renegotiations, between the city and the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. on the increase in the annual rental of the port facilities to the city failed.

Councilor Greg Gasataya said the resolution has to be re-introduced because the SP is composed of new members. He said the SP will either call for a public hearing, or adopt the series of public hearings they had previously conducted. Gasataya said the resolution will be proposed by Councilor Dindo Ramos who chairs the Committee on Ways and Means.*CGS
