'No lead on Esteban slay yet'
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

The police are still facing a blank wall in the killing of the grandson of a former Negros Occidental vice governor Sunday and they have no leads yet, Police Station 2 commander, Senior Inspector Rei Gumban, said yesterday.

Gumban said no witnesses have surfaced yet to testify on the fatal stabbing of Anthony Esteban, making it hard for them to identify the killers.

Esteban, 44, of Estanzia Subdivision, Brgy. Mandalagn, Bacolod City, is the grandson of former Bacolod vice mayor and Negros Occidental vice-governor, Gloria Esteban.

Esteban's body was found with a stab wound on his chest near a grassy lot at the Reclamation Area in Brgy. 10, Bacolod City at about 7 p.m. Sunday by an unidentified woman who sought the help of an SM City security guard.

Gumban said that they are now looking for the woman and the mall guard as they may be able to give details that can help them in apprehending Esteban's assailants.

Bacolod City Police Office director Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar on the other hand, said rugby users may have killed Esteban as the area where his body was found, is isolated.*PP
