Dr. Jaime Bernadas, the new CLMMRH chief*

The new chief of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City yesterday promised to act immediately on the delayed salaries of the CLMMRH employees and to be fair and transparent in running the facility.

Dr. Jaime Bernadas, 48, who was Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) assistant regional director based in Cagayan de Oro, said salaries will be paid today.

The hospital has 457 employees.

Bernadas took over the management of the hospital Monday from Dr. Domingo Vega, who was ordered transferred to the Department of Health regional office in Cebu while an investigation is underway to determine if charges should be filed against him for alleged procurement anomalies at the CLMMRH.

Gumban said no witnesses have surfaced yet to testify on the fatal stabbing of Anthony Esteban, making it hard for them to identify the killers.

Esteban, 44, of Estanzia Subdivision, Brgy. Mandalagn, Bacolod City, is the grandson of former Bacolod vice mayor and Negros Occidental vice-governor, Gloria Esteban. moremoremore

Silay not bankrupt - Gamban
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Former Mayor Carlo Gamban yesterday dismissed as "absolutely impossible" claims that the budget of the Silay City Mayor's Office is zero up to December, and that there is no money left for the hiring of casual employees.

How come employees of the City Mayor's Office are still receiving their salaries, how come the mayor can still perform and do activities pertaining to local governance, how come supplies of mayor are still there? Gamban asked, referring to the claims of an alleged zero budget for the Silay mayor' s office.

Nowhere in the history of governance has it happened that the City Mayor's Office can operate on a zero budget. It never happened and will never happen, he said. moremoremore
