6 persons collared for theft, rugby use Six
persons were arrested by the police for theft and substance abuse charges in Bacolod
City, Saturday, the Philippine National Police said. Joan
Gabitanan, 22, and Daisy Garlando, 41, both of Fuentebella Subdivision, Brgy.
Taculing, Bacolod City, were endorsed to Police Station 1 by Gaisano Bacolod Department
Store security guard Abner Salvallon, for allegedly understating the price of
an unidentified amount of textile at about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, police reports
said. Salvallon told the police that Gabitanan marked the
item bought by Garlando at P299.15 but a supervisor who checked the receipt later
found out that the textile was actually worth P1,386.75. Garlando told the DAILY
STAR that the cloth was indeed under priced but refused to elaborate.
Meanwhile, four minors were also endorsed to Police Station 1 by Edgardo Amaro,
39, after they were allegedly caught sniffing rugby at the Bacolod City Central
Market Saturday, police records showed. Two of them were
from Bacolod, the one was from Binalbagan, and the other from Hinigaran, both
in Negros Occidental. They were remitted to the Social Development Center by the

injured in stoning, stabbing in Bacolod
Two persons were injured in stabbing and stoning incidents in Bacolod City during
the weekend, the police said. Arlito Ybañez of Purok Hervias
2, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano
Memorial Regional Hospital with multiple injuries including stab wounds on his
back, right arm, and head inflicted by still unidentified persons, police reports
said. Ybañez told the police that he was attacked near a convenience store at
C.L. Montelibano Avenue, Brgy. Montevista, in Bacolod at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile, Jetlee Maday, 19, of Old P.C. Apartment, Brgy.
Villamonte, reported to Police Station 4 that unidentified men stoned him and
his friend without any provocation at Tansing Alley in Brgy. Villamonte at about
7:30 p.m. Friday. Maday sustained wounds on his face and
lips, police reports said. The police said that they are still investigating the
