| The Department of Public Works and Highways has been
directed by Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella to clean clogged up esteros and canals
with stagnant water to prevent the spread of dengue, a press release from his
office said yesterday. The solon also appealed to barangay
leaders to mount their respective anti-dengue campaigns the soonest, citing the
daily rise in the number of the disease, the press release said.
The World Health Organization, in its website, said that dengue is the most common
mosquito-borne viral disease of humans that, in recent years, has become a major
international public concerns, the press release said. Parents,
especially mothers, should be on their toes once their children manifest symptoms
of the viral disease, the solon said, adding that "we should not take their health

DENR
awards land titles to Moises Padilla farmers
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources
distributed land titles to beneficiaries in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental,
through its Handog Titulo Program, recently, a DENR-City Environment and Natural
Resources Office press release said. The activity was spearheaded
by DENR-CENRO Bacolod City officer-in-charge Joan Nathaniel Gerangaya, provincial
Register of Deeds head Romulo Gonzaga, and Moises Padilla Mayor Francisco Nazareno.
A total of 87 land titles consisting 261.6541-hectare land area were distributed
to beneficiaries from barangays Macagahay and Quintin Remo of the municipality,
in rites held at the Farmers Training Hall of Moises Padilla, the press release
said. Gerangaya said that, as of July this year, more than
700 titles were awarded to farmer beneficiaries from the two villages, and Brgy.
Alingasaw, in the town. He said a team from CENRO-Bacolod
is conducting the public land survey in the area. Land management specialist,
Susan Fernandez and RoD personnel are also processing titles to be given to qualified
residents of La Castellana, the press release added.* back
