Present at the turnover rites were Executive Assistant Vicente Petierre; Jr, C/Insp. Carmencita Saliba, chief of the Police Community Relations Branch; Police Station 4 commander, S/Insp. Luisito Acebuche, and Traffic Management Unit chief, Insp. Levy Pangue, the press release added.*

Quebrar: PNP on maximum
visibility during Arroyo visit

The Bacolod City police will base its actions on the attitude and movements of protesters who will hold pickets in places where President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit in the city today, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, Bacolod police director, said yesterday.

Quebrar said that their response to rallyists will be "situational," and will depend on what the protesters will do.

"I can not say if we will observe maximum or minimum tolerance but we will prioritize the security of the president," Quebrar added.

He refused to say how many policemen will be deployed to secure Arroyo's entourage but said there will be maximum police visibility in the city.*PP

Sexagenarian
nabbed for drugs

A sexagenarian allegedly engaged in selling marijuana to students and tricycle drivers, was arrested for the third time yesterday at Cordova Extension in Brgy. 1 Poblacion, Kabakalan City, Negros Occidental, the police said.

The arrest of Carlito Dureza Estandarte, 61, during a buy-bust operation, came more than week after policemen discovered a small area planted with marijuana, also in the place.

Chief Inspector Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, yesterday said that the arrest of Estandarte yielded 21 marijuana cigarets, P300 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs, and P100 in marked money.

Police records show that Estandarte was also arrested twice in previous years, for drug possession.

Mabugat said the arrest of Estandarte was made in the wake of numerous complaints by parents in the barangay whose children were monitored to have been buying marijuana cigarets from him.

Three fully-grown marijuana plants, about six feet tall each, were uprooted by a team of Kabankalan policemen from the barangay last week.*GPB
