Plebiscite set tomorrow for
Guihulngan cityhood

The Commission on Elections will conduct a plebiscite tomorrow in Guihulngan, Oriental Negros, on in its bid to become a city.

Acting Comelec provincial supervisor Eddie Aba said majority of the 53,200 registered voters of the town should ratify or vote in the affirmative in order that cityhood will be achieved. Aba, however, said that it is the local government unit that will shoulder the expense of the plebiscite. If it is successful, Guihulngan will become the sixth city of the province.

The others are Dumaguete, Bayawan, Tanjay, Canlaon and Bais.

The move to convert Guihulngan into a city was initiated in the House of Representatives by former Rep. Jacinto "Jing" Paras (Oriental Negros, 1st District).*RA
