The Commission on Elections has scheduled the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan synchronized elections on Oct. 29, 2007, Bacolod Comelec election officer Mavil Majarucon said yesterday.

Majarucon said the registration for the Barangay and SK elections will be from July 15 to 22 and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. She said a special registration will be held for the SK, those who are 15 years old and below 18 years old on the day of the election, while a regular registration for voters 18 years old and above will be held separately.

She also said they will entertain new registration, reactivation, transfers and corrections of entry during the regular registration.

Majarucon said new registrants should bring their valid ID's and birth certificates to establish their age, particularly those seeking a post in the SK. "I will not consider any other proof except the birth certificate, especially for the SK," she said.

Majarucon said she is coordinating with the Department of Interior and Local Government regarding the list of all the incumbent barangay officials in the 61 barangays in Bacolod and that of those graduating so that they will be fully apprised.

She said she is still waiting for the calendar of activities for the SK and Barangay elections to be issued, which, according to Daisy Real, acting director III of the Comelec's Planning Department, has already been promulgated.

Majarucon said her office started to distribute to the different barangays the list of deactivated voters who failed to vote in the 2004 and 2007 elections yesterday.*CGS
