Central Philippines governors are joining President Gloria Arroyo in a Cabinet cluster meeting on super region infrastructure projects at the new Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City Friday.

The governors of the Central Philippines will meet with the President after her site inspection of the new airport, Presidential Adviser for Western Visayas Rafael Coscolluela said yesterday.

Expected to be discussed are infrastructure priorities for tourism and development in the Visayan provinces of the central part of the country, he said. The congressmen and city mayors of Negros Occidental have also been invited to the Cabinet cluster meeting, he said.

Second DOH team arriving
to pinpoint CLMMRH woes

Aside from the Department of Health management team set to take over the running of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, another team will also be sent to assess the operations of the hospital, DOH Undersecretary Margarita Galon said yesterday.

She told the DAILY STAR that the management team tentatively set to arrive at the CLMMRH at the end of this week is scheduled for now to stay for a month and a half.

It is tasked with institutionalizing reforms at the hospital while the investigation on three top CLMMRH officials, who are being transferred to the DOH in Cebu, is underway. moremoremore

Cop killed in Toboso

A police mobile group trooper was shot dead on Monday night in Toboso, Negros Occidental and a public market watchman is the prime suspect.

The victim was identified as Police Officer 3 Socrates Cuevas, chief investigator of the 611th Provincial Mobile Group stationed in Sagay City.

Police investigations show that Cuevas, who was unarmed, was shot five times allegedly by Florentino Cajucson at the public market of Toboso, at about 10:30 p.m. Monday without any provocation. moremoremore
