The City Disaster Coordinating Council conducted a disaster risk reduction management seminar workshop for barangay officials, Wednesday, at the City Council Session Hall, in Dumaguete City.

City Administrator Dominador Dumalag, Jr. said the seminar is crucial and necessary so barangay official can formulate their spot and hazard maps, to be used in cases of fire, flash floods, heavy rain-induced landslide and other natural and man-made calamities. Several residential houses in Dumaguete are built of light materials, are very close to each other, and do not observance proper setbacks as required by the new building code and existing regulations and a city ordinance.

The participants were also taught about the organization and implementation of disaster preparedness measure and to protect and preserve their lives and properties in whatever calamity that to may occur in the community.*RG
