An official of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City who is up for transfer yesterday said he would include Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and other top DOH officials in charges for plunder and malversation by command responsibility.

Bryan Baylon, CLMMRH chief administrative officer, said he is filing the charges against Dr. Domingo Vega, CLMMRH chief, numerous others from CLMMRH, and will include Duque, Assistant Secretary David Lozada and Agnette Peralta, who headed the Pre-Investigation and Fact Finding Sub Committee of the DOH Integrity Development Committee that investigated CLMMRH. He said the top DOH officials should be held accountable, too, for failing to act on long complained about anomalies at the CLMMRH.

NPA claims assassination of
Barcelona's supporter

The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command of the New People's Army in northern Negros yesterday claimed responsibility for the assassination of a supporter of former Mayor Santiago Barcelona in Escalante City, on June 4.

The New People's Army enumerated in a statement released to the media, the alleged crimes committed by rebel returnee Romeo Agaton, a kagawad of Brgy. Malasibog, Escalante. The alleged crimes included is being a military agent, involvement in the killing of Pedro Trabajador, a leader of the National Federation of Sugarcane Workers, and a certain JR Sante, serving as a goon of a politician, and harassing people opposed to the project of Barcelona, during his term as the city mayor.

In the presence of his wife, Agaton was shot dead by an assassins, at the vicinity of the Escalante District Hospital last month, police records show. moremoremore

Court acquits drugs suspect
nabbed by now wanted cops

After four years in jail, a Chinese-Filipino, who was arrested by two policemen who are now wanted for the kidnap-slay of barangay captain Eleuterio Salabas, was acquitted of drug charges by a Regional Trial Court judge in Bacolod City yesterday.

William Uy of Brgy. 40, Bacolod City, was cleared of drug peddling and possession charges by RTC Branch 47 Judge Edgar Garvilles, who noted that the prosecution had not proven the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

Uy was arrested by a police team led by then Inspector Jonathan Lorilla, chief of the Bacolod police Drug Enforcement Unit, and Senior Inspector Jimmy Fortaleza on Oct. 23, 2003 in Bacolod City.
