Cops rescue rape victim

A house helper believed to have been sexually molested by her employer's grandfather was rescued by the police in an operation yesterday, the Philippine National Police said.

Initial investigation showed that "Ema", about 19 years old, was rescued by Police Station 4 officers from her employer's house in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City at about 7 p.m. yesterday, Police Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche said, in an operation they conducted following a tip from a concerned citizen.

He added that "Emma" had just started working for the family Monday when she was molested.

Acebuche said the victim is now in the custody of the Bacolod City Police Office Women and Children's Concerns Desk and they will coordinate with the BCPO-WCCD in conducting a follow-up operation to arrest the suspect.*PP
