Security guard found
dead in rented room: PNP
A security guard believed to be a victim of acute
pancreatitis, commonly known as "bangungot," was found dead in his
rented room in Bacolod City yesterday, the police said.
Jose Pestaño, a member of the Nikka Security
Agency, was found lifeless by his landlady, Racquel Espelita in
his room in Purok Kabulakan 1, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City
at about 7:45 a.m. yesterday, SPO1 Eric Olverio said.
The police said that Pestaño may have suffered
from "bangungot" as they did not see any signs of foul play in his
room. However, they will wait for the autopsy report to determine
the real cause of his death. Espelita told the police that she and
her other tenants heard Pestaño make "strange noises" Tuesday night.
She added that she and the other tenants decided
to break into Pestaño's room early yesterday when he didn't come
out at the usual time, the police said.
A .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver was recovered
by the investigators from Pestaño's room, police reports said.*PP
