School mapping orientation set

Department of Education in Negros Occidental representatives will meet with school officials for an orientation on the nationwide School Mapping Exercise, to plot the location and distribution of DepEd schools in the country, a government press release said.

The meeting among school officials from the North Negros Area will be held 9 to 12 a.m. tomorrow, at the Negros Occidental Teachers Federation Conference Hall, in Bacolod City.

Central Negros Area heads will meet 2 to 5 p.m. on the same day and venue, and those from Central Negros, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, also at the NOTF, a memorandum from Provincial Schools Division Superintendent Eva Belicina said in the press release. The SME is a DepEd priority program introduced by the National Mapping Research Institute Authority to equip DepEd with adequate knowledge and tools on Geographic Information System, the press release said.*PIA

PYAP holds encampment

A Summer Life Skills Encampment was held at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth in Guimaras, recently, a press release from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Iloilo said.

The five-hectare RRCY area is haven to young children who have committed offenses against the law. DSWD OIC-regional director Teresita Rosales said the activity is one way of giving children equal opportunity. While residents of RRCY are CICL, they should also have the same opportunities, like any other children. Among PYAP delegations that joined the activity were those from Iloilo Chapter with 19 participants; Oton - 15; and Sibunag with 17 participants.

Participants underwent sports competitions, workshop on first aide and public safety, adolescent responsible sexuality, and workshop on basic hotel and restaurant services, through the technical assistance of Eduardo Guevarra, DSWD focal person for youth, the press release added.*
